What is E-rate?

The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund, which known by most people as "E-Rate", is administered under the direction of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), by the USAC (Universal Service Administrative Company).

How can E-Rate benefit my school?

The Schools and Libraries Program of the Universal Service Fund makes discounts available to eligible schools and libraries for:

  • Telecommunications Services
  • Internet Access
  • Internal Connections

The program is intended to ensure that schools and libraries have access to affordable telecommunications and information services. Discounts received depends on the level of poverty and the rural/urban status of the served population. Discounts can range from 20% to 90% of eligible services. Libraries, schools, and school districts that are eligible may apply as part of a consortium or individually.

How do I start the E-Rate process?

E-Rate Funding must be requested under one of the four different categories of service:

  • Telecommunications Services
  • Internet Access
