Interesting BYOD Study Highlights for Enterprise Wireless Networks

Written by Danny Mareco Danny Mareco | July 6, 2012

BYOD, the familiar acronym for the “bring your own device” phenomenon, has continued its propagation into the workplace. Many organizations are allowing employees to choose their laptops and use their own smart phones and tablets at work in support of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) programs. With the many benefits as described in 7 Benefits of BYOD on Enterprise Wireless Networks, it’s easy to see why the embrace of BYOD in the workplace will only continue to accelerate.

Gartner, a well-known IT research and advisory firm, did a study that involved 938 respondents from qualified organizations in 9 different countries including the United States. Here are some results from the study that highlight BYOD on the enterprise wireless network.

The demand for tablets on enterprise wireless networks continues to accelerate and corporations are being faced with increasing pressure to allow BYOD (bring your own device). The possibility of compromised wireless network security and the excess of mobile devices on the enterprise wireless network system are some of the main concerns for many companies. It’s important to remember that if you do not welcome your workers personal mobile devices securely on your network, there is a good chance they will end up on the network anyway, but unsecured.
