As smart phones and tablets gain in popularity, the proliferation of BYOD (bring your own device) sensation continues to gain momentum. Organizations are being faced with increasing pressure to allow BYOD on their secure wireless network.

Many are already allowing employees to choose their laptops and use their own smart phones and tablets at work in support of BYOD wireless programs. A lot of companies are beginning to see the benefits BYOD has to offer, which is good, because it looks like the BYOD trend is here to stay and will only continue to spread.

This informative infographic on the State of BYOD in 2013 by Magic Software shows how the move to BYOD environments is affecting devices, employees, and IT staffs in 2013. It provides many interesting statistics gathered from a variety of sources such as Gartner and Ovum to cover all the need-to-know facts about the state of BYOD and it’s expected growth.

One that really popped out for me was that “Two-thirds of the mobile workforce will own a smartphone in 2016, and 40% of the workforce will be mobile.”-Gartner. Check out the infographic below for more interesting stats about the future of BYOD.

BYOD on enterprise wireless networks, wifi service providers,

You’ve seen the numbers; it doesn’t look like BYOD is going anywhere. As the workforce continues to become more mobile the demand for mobile devices on enterprise wireless networks will continue to accelerate.

It looks like your employees will be bringing in their own mobile devices whether you like it or not as well. So, if you haven’t already, you might as well jump on the bandwagon and prepare your network and get a BYOD policy in place.

By embracing the rise of BYOD, organizations have the opportunity to reap some major benefits including, but not limited to increased productivity, operational efficiency, and cost-savings.
